I choose western because I wanted to be different and I always watched all the western riders out there in a rodeo having fun and chit chatting.I rode english for a while but switched back to western and I ride english when I visit my friends stable.I don't know I think Quarter Horses got me into it all lol QHs are my favourite breed now and I am learning western pleasure at first I thought it looked easy and boring but whooo doggy it's not as easy as it looks lol.
Oh and I don't own a horse my parents are thinking about it I still just want to lease one so I can show in 4H I hope I get the horse ^_^

I prefer it anyway. I've always ridden western and started off doing horsemanship and pleasure, as well as trail and (western) showmanship. Then I leased a horse for a couple years to take to Congress and my trainer wanted me to try English (hunter under saddle) because he said it will make you a better rider to at least learn how, so I did that for a few years. People always told me I looked really natural doing it, but I really didn't like it.
Now I'm into reining and I L.O.V.E it!! But every once in a while I still will throw on an English saddle when I practice. I prefer western because it's so much more relaxed, in my opinion.
And yes, I have 5 horses (4 that I show or will show).
