How to Make an English Saddle Less Slippery?

I've had my HDR close contact saddle for at least four years now. It's super slippery and hard. I've ridden in "grippier" saddles before, and everytime I get back in my HDR, I always have a hard time. I've been oiling it for the past week, but it just seems to make it shinier. Any way to make the leather more flexible and not so hard and slick?

There is a product called "Sadl-Tite" that you can apply to the leather. It makes the leather more sticky. A lot of cross country jumpers use it. My friend who events has a motto: friends don't let friends ride without sadl-tite!

Other than that, you'll just have to get a different saddle. Some are made from softer, grippier leather than others. In general, the buttery-soft leather that's super-grippy is more expensive but less durable. If you can't afford a new saddle, definately try the sadl-tite. It's pretty cheap and I hear it works great!
