My Dad has these Thinsulate and North Face coats that barely make it though a winter (zipper goes, sleeves, cuffs and pocket linings get ripped). I've never had a wool coat that made it through more than a winter and a half. The best coat I ever had was a vintage full length suede coat with a quilted lining and fox collar, but my sister has sort of adopted it. I walk outside for at least an hour a day (usually two) in temperatures down to -40C. I love vintage fur coats except they're politically incorrect. What's the next best thing in terms of warmth, durability and style. I'm trying to keep the weight down too because it's a pain lugging around a 10 lb coat all day
