Do you think I should go to hospital or see a doctor?
About 4 hours ago, my horse bucked me off and ran over me. I hurt my wrist but it isn't unbearable, my rib hurts and his hoof just caught the bottom of my eye and cut it a bit and bruised but my mum put butterfly stitches on it. When it happened I didn't want then to call an ambulance or anything because I HATE hospitals. But My rib still hurts alot and I have a headache. (I put a bandage on my wrist but I think I just sprained it). So do you think I should go to the hospital now or wait and see a doctor tomorrow or whenever I can get an appointment? (I am a 15 y/o girl by the way :] My horse is a 15hh Cob if that helps!) Thanks :]
Go now. Why would you wait? A fractured rib can puncture a lung or other organ. It may have already punctured something, or may be displaced and do it later. You don't use butterfly bandages to close facial wounds, since you don't want scars on your face. If it needs stitches, that has to be done asap, or it will be too late. It's already been 4 hours.....you need to go now.
You probably had a good bump to the head as well.
Add....the risk with uncomplicated rib fractures has nothing to do with the risks if a fractured rib displaces and punctures an organ. Every potentially fractured rib should be xrayed to rule out complications.
