Is there anyway to remove water spots from a saddle?
Has anybody found a way to remove water spots from a leather saddle? My saddle unfortunately got some water on the pommel and I know water spots are like impossible to remove. It's not a huge deal to me, but I just wondered if anybody found a way to remove water spots that they would be willing to share. Thank you in advance.
Cleaning your saddle regularly should help to get rid of them. I use a slightly damp sponge and glycerin soap. I then wipe the saddle off with a clean damp sponge and towel dry it. If the spots still won't budge, it could be that the leather is really dried out. To help restore leather and make it more supple, I favor Lexol. It smells a little strange but it really works well. They make it in a squirt bottle and in jugs so you can either spray it on and rub it in or put some on a soft cloth and rub it in that way. If when you put it on it leaves a dark streak in the leather, don't worry about it, just add more Lexol. If it does leave dark patches that's only because the leather is really dried out. You may need to condition it several times to help make the leather supple and soft again. Usually when I find that I have water spots it's time to bust out the Lexol (if maintained once every couple of months or so).
