Quilted Dressage
Do you usually use quilted leg wraps under polo wraps?
I have known a lot of people that swear by quilted leg wraps under polo's. But, i have met a lot of people who dont EVER use quilted leg wraps under polo wraps. I was looking at youtube video's on how to apply them to see if a lot of people used the quilts underneat, but no one did. I do a lot of jumping, dressage, and trail rides and i use a lot of different types of leg wraps. I usually use splint boots or full medicine boots but i just got some safety orange colored polo's for trail's during hunting season. Please dont just guess based on what you have seen. I really need help from someone who knows what they're talking about. If i wanted a guess i would just guess myself. Thanks!!!
Polo wraps are used for riding only.
Shipping wraps/ stable bandages/ standing wraps are the ones you use with quilts. They're too bulky for riding and are wrapped in a way that would not allow the horse to use his legs as he would normally. The wrap itself is a lot thinner than polos and are made of a completely different material that doesn't stretch as much.

The vast majority of the time, they are made of fleece.

You also wrap them in a completely different way. Polo wraps give some support to the leg, but are mostly to prevent nicks and bruises. Standing wraps give a ton of support to a horse's legs (which is why many times you will see a horse with a ligament/ tendon injury wearing them) and the quilts are designed to keep the pressure as even as possible against the leg. They also provide cushioning if you are trailering- so if a horse kicks out in the trailer, he's less likely to slice his leg open.
