Why do they say nose is not suppose to bleed after cauterization?

I am so confused. I had my nose cauterization last night about 7 pm. The specialist told me the down side was that i may still have bleeding for 48 hrs after procedure but that it would be better in the long run. I have had bleeding twice today but i squeeze nose and it stops after holding it about 15 min. Why is everyone on the net saying its not suppose to bleed after procedure. I am totally confused.

You are experiencing post-op bleeding from the cauterised 'operation site'. Post-op bleeding of a nose cauterisation is different to a 'normal' nose bleed.

The 'operation site' was once a huge blood vessel up your nasal passage that kept bursting/bleeding.

The 'operation site' needs to heal. It is raw as the area was burnt off with a cautery needle. A black scab may have formed and become dislodged along with removal of your bolster dressing or nasal pack.

You were given a bolster dressing over your nostrils/ nasal packing, weren't you ??

Were you given some antibiotic ointment to apply to the 'operation site', as per doctors instructions ?? I am sure you were at least given a prescription for antibiotic ointment. The attending doctor would have put some on the operation site after the cauterisation. However some needs to be applied about twice daily for a week or so, with a swab stick. This will prevent infection.
