Help with choosing a bit for my hunter?
I want to try my horse in a french link full cheek snaffle. He is currently in a jointed kimberwike.
When he was in a D snaffle he would continuously pull and chomp on the bit and I had to be real strong with my hands to get him to listen somewhat. He is a OTTB by the way. With the kimberwike I can be gentle on his mouth and he listens well but I am training him as a hunter and the judges don't like kimberwikes.

What would be better for him or what bit do you suggest? My trainer suggested the full cheek but I just wanted other opinions.

What level hunters are you showing? Unless you are doing rated shows, you will be fine with your current bit (and even above that sometimes depending on the judge's preference).
Anyway, both of those bits are full cheeks (not sure which your trainer suggested). A full cheek is generally used for a horse who needs a bit of help with turning as the cheek pieces will send an little extra signal. Of the two you posted, the second looks better for a somewhat strong horse, first is definitely milder though but might not be enough if a D-ring snaffle isn't.
However, the second is NOT a french link, it's a Dr. Bristol- there is a difference, and Dr. Bristol is harsher. A French-link will lie flat against the tongue, while a Dr. Bristol lies on an angle and therefore has less points of pressure against the tongue, making it harsher.
