How come no body talks about how the lively baseball has broken records that would not otherwise been broken?
Since approximately 1996 the number of home runs in the majors has increased by around 2200 a year. It's not all about steroids. The ball too has changed. Just watch old video and compare it to now how the ball jumps off the bat compared to now. Pitchers were never in danger off getting their heads knocked off by line drives back before 1996.
This, more than steroids, which gets talked about all the time is the single biggest cause of the homerun explosion of the late 90's. Like you, I wonder why it's not mentioned more while steroids gets beaten to death.
