Fwd Wide
A Used Tuner?
have a 96 Mitsubishi Mirage 1.5L 4cyl FWD 98hp as of
now, not even going to get into how lame of a car that is, but looking to purchase a used car relatively soon. looking for a car thats Tunable, perhaps engine swap ability is a plus.
vast parts are available for repairs, not to mention performance parts can be ordered and obtained with ease. (live in the Midwest, US) maybe something that could push past 200hp. Im into imports as of now however wide open for all suggestions! anyways, i would love a sporty tuner that could with a little love and care could hold its own. any cars that come to mind? anything that meets some or all of these guidelines? lend a hand in suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated, the more the better. thanks in advance, My budget allots for a used car running under 6k. Feel free to mention all suggestions, including those who exceed the budget

As a former Highschool student... let me suggest buying some cheap civic... not going in debt at all - or as little as possible... and living with it until you start making enough money to afford a faster car. I have been in your shoes... and let me tell you... fixing your project car so you can drive it to work is not fun... If you are as stubborn as i was... the least you can do is get something decently reliable... what price range are we talking? front wheel drive and sporty don't really go together... i mean... torque steer is not fun.. rear wheel and AWD is very fun... find an LS1 camaro/firebird (keep it stock/mild until you have another car)... a nice condition mustang (leave it stock too) - the older 85-93 5.0's are fun and cheap to repair... plus easy enough to work on yourself... if you are an import guy... RSX, integra GSR, eclipse GST/GSX, 3000GT, 300zx... depending on price range they all can be had... all of them, even non-turbo.. have around 200 hp or more... but (excluding the VR4 3000GT and Twin Turbo 300zx) none would beat an LS1 in a drag... if thats what interest you.... Trust me, dumping 4,000 into an integra only to get spanked by a stock LS1 is not fun...
My suggestion... consider your wants vs. needs... buy what you need until you can afford what you want.... after college... an ls1 will be a joke... you will be able to afford what you want... like a twin turbo'ed 383 stroker mustang.. or whatever else you like...
