Bates Momentum
Is the Wintec Pro Jump a good eventing saddle?
I'm looking for a new jump saddle-but it needs to work from both Stadium and cross-country (just at the Novice level). I've been looking at the Wintec Pro Jump mainly, but also the Bates Momentum and Bates Elevation. I love both of the bates saddle's but they are too expensive. Is the Wintec Pro Jump a good saddle for me?
SaddleFitter-thanks so much! that was very informative!
Whether it's a good saddle will depend on whether it fits you and your horse. The Pro Jump has a relatively flat tree, so it's not a great choice for a horse with a really high wither. The changeable gullet system can be a real plus if the width is the only issue that needs addressing.
For the rider, the flap is set very forward - definite jump focus, with a somewhat swept-back cantle so you can get back on the drop fences (which aren't dramatic at Novice). The seat is Equi-Suede, which offers nice grip and security. The knee and thigh blocks can be moved to suit the individual rider's preferences.
